LEED Rating System Version 2.1

The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System represents the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) effort to provide a national standard for what constitutes a "green building." It is used as a design guideline and certification tool for architects and designers seeking to develop high-performance, sustainable buildings.

Q: Are Sloan products LEED certified?

A: The USGBC LEED program certifies buildings, not products or materials. Sloan has a group of products listed in various green building material lists. An example of this would be the GreenSpeccertified hand dryer. Information is available at www.buildinggreen.com.

Q: What part do products and materials play in the LEED rating system?

A: The majority of building products only contribute to achieving LEED points. Requirements are performance-based, and products having the desired attributes can be identified.

Q: Which Sloan products count toward LEED credit?

A: Sloan’s new Water Conservation Product Group is specifically designed to supply architects, builders, engineers and contractors with the best in water-efficient products. When specified correctly, these products can achieve multiple LEED credit points – going beyond water efficiency credits. Products include the Optima® product line, Optima faucets and showerheads, Waterfree Urinal, Crown® II (1.0, 0.5 gpf), Royal® (1.0, 0.5 gpf), G2 Optima Plus® (1.0, 0.5 gpf), etc.
