Cartridge Disposal & Recycling
Sloan recognizes the importance of, and is dedicated to, protecting the environment. In so doing, we offer the following recommendations for the proper disposal, or recycling, of used cartridges.
Waste Classification
Based upon standards published by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the requirements of the Federal Resource and Recovery Act (RCRA), the contents in used cartridges are not classified as either hazardous or characteristically hazardous waste. Therefore, used cartridges do not require special handling or disposal procedures beyond what is recommended below in order to be safely disposed of in sanitary landfills.
Disposal
Used cartridges can be disposed of in the yellow plastic bags provided with each cartridge. For your convenience, it is recommended that during the cartridge change process that fluids are allowed to drain momentarily from the cartridge. Once the cartridge is placed into the disposal bag, it should be securely tightened and is then ready for disposal with ordinary trash refuse.
Recycling
The cartridges are made of pure industrial grade ABS plastic, which is recyclable. We encourage the recycling of our cartridge in conformance with local recycling programs and availability. In the event that an appropriate recycling program is not available in your community, please dispose cartridges as outlined above.
